DESIGN NOTES
A warmer take on modern living
Natural textures, quiet colour and the details that make a room feel lived in.
Begin with a feeling, not a shopping list. Warm modern interiors bring together simple forms and tactile materials. Choose two or three base colours, then introduce texture through timber, linen, woven accents and rugs.
Plan lighting in layers. Ambient light supports movement, task lighting serves work and reading, and accent lighting highlights the details you love.
Leave room for personality. A treasured object, a favourite print or a handmade piece helps your home tell your story.
Turn ideas into a useful brief
Start with what your home needs to do each day. Note the activities that take place in each room, the belongings that need storage and the parts of the existing layout that feel awkward. Bring measurements and reference images to the conversation, separating essential requirements from decorative preferences.
Read a layout before choosing finishes
A measured 2D layout can help you compare furniture positions, storage depths and usable circulation. Once the arrangement feels right, a 3D view can help explore colour, texture and lighting. Confirm the drawing scope and review stages in your design proposal rather than treating a reference image as a construction plan.
Compare materials with context
Ask how the proposed finish will be used and maintained, how it sits beside adjoining surfaces, and which details influence installation. Cabinet finishes, hardware, upholstery and lighting should be discussed together so the room feels coherent. The selected specification should be recorded in the written scope.
Keep the next step clear
Shortlist your priorities and share them with the studio. Your proposal can then connect the design direction to actual measurements, product choices and project stages. A clear brief makes it easier to understand what is included and where further assessment is needed.
